Teow Chow Seafood Restaurant @ Bukit Sri Bintang; Kepong

We thought of heading to Klang for delectable and fresh seafood on the first day of Eid Mubarak festival (Hari Raya Puasa) in Malaysia. However, the thought of heavy traffic had made us changed our minds and chose to go to KLCC bookfest. Expecting a breeze drive on the road to KLCC, yet it was not a good decision-making as the metropolitan residents and foreigners (mostly Bangladeshi) had been chosen to go to the same destination as us.

As the seafood dinner plan had compromised, we chose to dine at Teow Chow Seafood Restaurant which specializes in seafood cuisines which are served fresh with reasonable price. The seafood here were transferred from Kuala Selangor dock after freshly caught and some were from Sekinchan. The crowds were spotted when we reached there at 6.30pm.

Lady luck was with us as there was a table unoccupied and we quickly place order with the owner's recommendation.

Clams in Kam Heong Style

Clams in Kam Heong Style was the first dish to be served with strong aroma. The briny and sweet flavours of clams pair perfectly with the fiery bird’s eye chilies, onions and gingers. None of the clams were stale and most of us were constantly grab for more.

Deep Fried Mantis Prawn in Gong Bou style

The deep fried mantis prawns were crunchy, flavorful and juicy. Well, fried foods hardly go wrong right? I had spoonful of the deep fried mantis prawns and still tempted for more.

Steamed Garoupa Fish in Teo Chew Style

The well steamed fish with tomatoes, sliced gingers, bean curds and chili were served hot. Exquisite dish is my comment to this dish!

Stir-fried vegetables as the last dish

This appetizing dinner costs RM 99 , serving 6 person satisfactorily. We shall re-visit to try the famous crab dishes in future.

The other food we had ordered in Teow Chow Seafood Restaurant were shown as per below:

Bean curds with minced pork.

奶油虾婆  * recommended *

Balacan Kangkung

Lemon chicken
Well marinated yet the portion of this dish was considered small for 6 pax.

Restoran Ah Theme 亚添家乡饭店 @ Bandar Menjalara

Restoran Ah Theme 亚添家乡饭店 had become our recent hot spot for family dinner after we moved to the new territory. The foods here are delicious with reasonable price which has been one of the reasons that the restaurant is often fully occupied during dinner hour.

We love the specialty Assam Fish! As shown in the photo below, steamed fish was topped with peppermint leaves, Assam broth which cooked with tomatoes, lady fingers, pineapples slices and tomatoes. The fish is always fresh! This sour spicy broth was heavenly tasted by mixing with rice.

Assam Fish

Stir-Fried Green Dragon Vegetables with Shimeji Mushrooms (松菇青龙菜)

Ever since we knew about this vegetable, we used to order this dish in restaurant. It's well cooked! We experienced each bite of crunchiness of these green dragon vegetables.

Signature bean curd which are braised with meats, prawns, pork lards, carrots and etc.
The bean curds are soft with crispy skin, simple dish yet delicious!

Lemon  Roasted Chicken

The crispy chicken was very flavorsome and the light sour-sweetness did perfectly to compliment my bowl of white rice.

Overall, the food here was served with good quality and affordable prices. The female boss is friendly and often recommend dishes that are suitable for us. The drawbacks are medium portion of the dish and hard to find car park during peak hour.

S&W Western Cuisine Spaghetti and Pork Noodles Soup @ Restoran Jalan Tanjung Dua

Honestly speaking, Italian cuisines and sushi are often appeared in my minds most of the time. The serene Sunday was kick-started with a short walk around my housing area, and I was hungrily searching for something to munch before the siblings woke up for breakfast.

Restoran Tanjung Dua; Bandar Menjalara had become our frequent selection for weekend brunch. It has a large variety of foods from western cuisines, fried koay teow, fried noodles and etcetera. The S&W Western Cuisine Spaghetti which offers a fair selection of western dishes like grilled meat (lamb, chicken, ham and etcetera) with the specialty fried spaghetti.

The cook
Crowds in front of the stall proved that the foods were delicious!
The stir fried version spaghetti was totally different compared to the spaghetti we used to have in Italian restaurants. The spaghetti was stir-fried with onions, black pepper and basil with their specialty tomato sauce. The bouncy perfection with generous portion of grilled chicken meat which was succulent and tantalizing . The drawback was the calories of the meal provided to you (me).

The set of fried spaghetti with black pepper chicken chop tantalized my taste buds.
If you are looking for impressive selection of contemporary western (Italian) cuisine as breakfast, lunch or brunch, you shall not miss the famous fried spaghetti here. You can opt for spaghetti topped with tasty enriched tomato sauce, matching with choice of side dishes.
Another choice was the fried koay teow which had enough "wok hei", yet it's a bit salty to my family and I.
The pork noodles vermicelli soup opposite the S&W Western Cuisine Spaghetti was very famous too.If spaghetti is not your choice of meal, you could opt for having a bowl of long-simmered, flavorful soup infusing with cloves garlic, garnished onion slices, vegetables, shredded pork meat, internal parts of pork, minced pork, ladled over the choice of rice noodles. I usually order the pork vermicelli with minced pork meats and the soup  has rich and satisfying flavor (not due to MSG) as I don't feel thirsty after finishing up the meal.

“Dai Chow” stall was available here and each plate of noodles/ fried rice was made-to-order, hence patience was needed. It might not be the most delectable noodles that I had tried, yet it's still a platter of noodles which passed the expectation.

Last but not least, I was impressed with the "cham" (coffee mixed with tea) here and I noticed that Chinese was the one who made the drinks. *Most coffee shops had been hiring foreigners to prepare drinks and the quality of the drinks were significantly dropped, yet I didn't need to worry of my drinks' quality when I dined here. Remarks (Add-on on March 2017), the sifu whom made the drinks had left the restaurant, the coffee drinks here weren't that nice and over sweet.

Penang Food in Kepong @ Restoran Tong Siang 同乡美食坊

I often proud to say that staying in Kepong is like staying in food heaven as its strategic location has attracted many restaurants and food businesses over here. Some nice foods that I had taken to tame my stomach were at Chew Jetty Penang Chiak and Bel Pasto Italian Restaurant. After moving into new housing area, we had come back for good food in Aman Puri area;Kepong. Restoran Tong Siang for their nice penang delicacies.

At the entrance,a banner was found on the wall stating that mom's recipe including crumbed fish and chips, signature nasi lemak, penang delicacies and etcetera.

The menu

The signature Jawa mee was definitely worth a try! Its taste closes to the one we had eaten in Penang. The flavorful potato gravy with spicy chili paste and ingredients like crunchy prawn fritters, boiled egg, bean curds and generous spray of peanut powder.

The asam laksa which is a spicy-sour, fish-based soup.Prawn paste /"heh ko" in hokkien and a handful of peppermint leaves enhances the asam laksa.A fulfilling, familiar feel, yet the fish is significantly lesser than last time.

A closer look of asam laksa

Hokkien Mee

If you dislike having Penang cuisines, you may consider ordering a plate of nasi lemak. The sambal is delicious!

Choices of desserts

cendol

八宝冰

The cendol is nice, yet 八宝冰 Ais Kacang Eight Wonders presumably have 8 different types of toppings has disappointed me much as I could only find mainly red beans.

To rate the foods (3.5 out of 5), I shall say that asam laksa, jawa mee and prawn noodles are worth to be tried here. The signature nasi lemak is one of the famous dishes that locals order too.

Ban Lee Sang Mee @ Taman Ehsan, Kepong

Among my family members, my mom used to have fussier taste buds and most of the time she doesn't satisfied with the foods. Restoran Woo Ng Kee at Taman Ehsan Kepong is one of the reputable restaurant which my family used to go. After living in this area for so long period, I supposed this was the first time that my mom chose to try new food at this housing area. The shop was easily spotted as it is opposite of S.M.K Taman Ehsan. The crowds had made this shop becoming more obvious to be seen. It was crowded with the residents here when my mom and I stepped in the shop.

ehsan nice food
Well, looking at the bowls of bean curd skins (腐竹) and we could easily know that the food quality will not be bad. Oh yea, if you dislike sang mee, then I guess you have to search other dining place as the shop has sang mee only.
ehsan nice food
My mom had ordered soup with springy noodles.
It looked like very soft as soaked in the clear soup, however, it remained springy and crumble.
Mine with the dry noodles which come along with clear soup.
The noodles always taste fresh and delectable, and not soggy and somehow chewy enough.
Bounce is only found in handmade noodles!
kepong nice food
The closer look of the noodles with minced pork.
The portion of noodles is quite big and can be shared by two person.
Generous portion of bean curd skins which is around 5 pieces, two meat pastes and one pork meatball.
ehsan nice food

An enjoyable brunch that I had with my mom as she kept praising the noodles was scrumptious (almost each spoonful of it) and we even asked for details when the shop owner rests and what are other choices of sang mee. Moreover, the price of the delicious noodles is affordable which was around RM12.50 with the above orders plus one big glass of coffee.

So, the details:

Choices of sang mee: Dry, soup and curry
The closure of the shop: Alternate Sunday and certain Public Holidays.

I just thought of continuing the post with my manicure art.
The reason was simple, as it was the first time I finally managed to draw or add something to my nails after several attempts.

Penang Delicacies @ Chew Jetty Penang Chiak;Kepong

The recent opened shop i.e Chew Jetty Penang Chiak in Kepong had granted us another choice of having breakfast during Sunday's morning. We used to dine at 999 Coffee Shop; Aman Puri due to its famous curry noodles there. However, the stall owner has moved since three months ago. According to the next stall in 999 Coffee Shop, the hawker said that this Penang delicacies stall had moved to the shop-lets nearby.

It’s rare to find original Penang white curry noodles, prawn noodles or lor mee in the Klang Valley. Moreover, it is even harder to find penang delicacies which are cooked by Penang hawkers which remain the authentic taste of foods. My dad is a Penangite, and frankly our family have fussier taste buds than most of our peers over Penang delicacies.

Coincidentally, we found this newly opened shop which sold Penang delicacies i.e. Chew Jetty Penang Chiak with a big signboard mentioning its famous white curry noodles. Our intuition had told me that this shop's owner is the one we are looking for... its white curry noodles!

The ambiance of Chew Jetty Penang Chiak is like fisherman's house. Perhaps they want to correlate the design of the shop with the shop's name.

Penang Chee Cheong Fun
Well, it spoiled my expectancy as I expected it to be served warm and with more fried spring onions.
The famous white curry noodles with cuttlefish, cockles, tofu puffs, pork blood.

Extremely delicious!

Prawn noodles/ Hokkien mee
The another signature noodles from Chew Jetty Penang Chiak.
It reminded of the famous mee goreng at Siam Road Penang.
Well, this was still quite satisfying meal for us.

Finally, we spotted the chef.
We can conclude that we found the stall of penang curry noodles that we used to eat!

The menu with increased range of foods was provided during last visit in May 2017
Foods- Penang curry noodles are remained scrumptious. My mom who used to eat their prawn noodles (Penang Hokkien mee) commented that the prawns are not that fresh and the regular portion is with lesser prawn fritters. Hopefully the quality of food will be enhanced.

We shall try the Asam Laksa, Jawa Mee (promosing taste as I ate before) and Loh Mee next time. The mee goreng looked promosing too.

Price- Most of the foods here are priced at RM8.50 with large portion.

Ambiance- Nice and suitable for family dining.

Service-Service is brisk and food are arrived swiftly. FREE WIFI is also available.
