Appetizing Pasta @ The Morning After Coffee Company, T6 Light Grey Mall,Sungai Buloh

Every working day, I usually anticipate for the lunch hour for meals and a 30-minutes walk with dissociated minds. The long lunch hour during Friday is the best moment for ranting or chatting before working productively for the rest of the day. Sometimes, I hope that the hustle and bustle of work life open doors to new ways of thinking yet the change is still needed to be self-initiated.

Anyway, last Friday was special in which we left office earlier to eat lunch and switch gears. It's the first departmental lunch for welcoming new bosses and new joiner to the team. The place to have the lunch session was pre-booked at The Morning After Coffee Company; a hipster cafe located at T6 Light Grey Mall in Sungai Buloh.

The rustic and industrial theme decoration of the cafe with an exposed brick wall stating the cafe's name.

Above our heads, there's a big lamp which looked like from operation theater's. *Just kidding*
The menu was provided once we were seated and we promptly placed in the orders. I shall not share much details related to the work. Therefore, let's see the pasta we had ordered. Each pasta was made to order with nice firm at each bite. The pasta here were worth to try, each platter of pasta came with a large portion with generous amount of ingredients.

Grilled Chicken Pasta in Creamy Pesto Sauce
Grilled chicken breast meats and sun-fried tomatoes smothered in a creamy pesto sauce with pasta.

The Signature Soft Shell Crab pasta with Neapolitan sauce and rocket salad
The pasta with the highest price was served and its high-stacked presentation had gained the attention from most of us.
The pasta was scented with lemon grass and tossed with tomato and garlic in a spiced prawn oil. The tangy sauce was quite similar to bolognese pasta's and well-matched with the large portion of crunchy deep fried soft-shell crab.

Spicy Aglio Olio with Grilled Prawns and Zucchini
My choice of spaghetti with salivating prawns and sliced zucchini. For the 1st dining experience for the Italian cuisines, I usually ordered their simplest yet classic Italian pasta recipe. As the name suggested, the pasta was cooked with olive oil, grilled prawns and speckled with chili flakes. It's appetizing with the spiciness jazzing up the taste department. Well, I was delighted of my choice of meal with many plump, fresh, and juicy prawns on pasta.

Nice presentation of the food
Creamy Beef and Mushroom Pasta
The pasta topped with generous amount of sauted mushrooms and beef slices, tossed in classic creamy carbonara sauce.

Smoked Salmon Pasta
This pasta would be great for those who like to eat salmon slices and spaghetti enriched with tomato sauce.

A massive platter of pasta smothered in some kind of luscious sauce made one overwhelmed with happiness to end this weekend. It was delightful to have department lunch once awhile, to satisfy stomach and to socialize :)

Boxing Day Gathering @ Take Eat Easy Modern Bakery and Café

There’re several cafes opened nearby my living area such as Take Eat Easy Modern Bakery and Café which is popular for the fruit juices squeezed in light bulbs. Some neighbors have told that the breads are freshly baked and tasty, yet I haven't tried their breads before. Take Eat Easy Modern Bakery and Café is located at the ground floor of Wisma Fiamma. Upon arrival, I noticed there’s purple alien mascot at the right side of the café with short description of pastry chef consultant, Frederic Oger being displayed.

However, upon arrival on the Boxing Day, there weren’t many cakes available. At the entrance, there were rows of bakery with various types of pastry, donuts and loaves of breads. One of the cinnamon twists with sugar sparkles like snow on top of them caught my attention. As shown in the photo below, there weren't much selection of pastry left.

Cozy environment which is suitable for group chat and gathering.

The navy jeans covered menu with some meaningful words: Take Your Time, be happy , live mighty

The service was friendly, albeit the delay in food and drinks. As most of my friends had their foods served after almost half hour of waiting time, I thought my ordered pasta would be served late as well. Unexpectedly, my pasta (spaghetti with tuna, crab meats and fried prawns) had served shortly after I placed order. A sumptuous meal for me! The foods I took costed me around RM40, which considered quite pricey yet the quality of food was up to my expectation.

The fresh fruit juice squeezed into a light-bulb looked container with an interesting name i.e. fat killer.

A great 4 hours spent with the bunch of old friends and look forward to meet again!

Delectable Pizza, Pastries and Macaroons @ Bread Lounge; GTower Kuala Lumpur

If you're looking for some peaceful and quiet with good quality of desserts for brunch or afternoon tea, Bread Lounge at G Tower fits the bill. The freshly baked breads, gourmet sandwiches, pastries, macaroons and cakes here are delectable have proven Bread Lounge to be another noteworthy hidden gem in Kuala Lumpur. Bread Lounge is a bakery slash cafe on the ground floor of the GTower in Jalan Tun Razak, famous for the pastries, croissants and artisan breads from Chef Eugene (Tanzini/Upper Deck) creations.

It was my friend's birthday today and we thought of having brunch and afternoon tea at somewhere with good food and exclusively dining ambiance for cozy chat. She was attracted by Bread Lounge which had the high ranking of best cakes in KL featured in TimesOut.com and the photos of artisan breads and cakes in Bread Lounge website were appealing. It's like a hotel lounge for me and Bread Lounge was easy to be spotted with the giant chilies sculptures seen in the center of GTower lounge.

Bread Lounge; GTower Kuala Lumpur

Stepping in Bread Lounge felt like stepping into a hotel or airport lounge as the overall design looked very high class. We passed through the display counter filled with assorted slices of cakes and flicked through the menu before we seated. It was almost 4pm and there weren't crowded due to it was a busy working day. I felt very delighted to indulge on afternoon tea to relax while others were still on the midday of work.

Each of us chose a cake and each priced at RM 14.90.
Raspberry Yogurt mousse; marble cheese; green tea and bunga kantan opera were our choices of pastries. The raspberry yogurt mousse baked with a handful of fresh raspberries and coated generously with raspberry icing with velvety texture and dark chocolate pieces as design. The design of raspberry yogurt mousse had attracted us to order this and particularly suitable for non-sweet tooth as it has some hint of raspberry sourness.  The marble cheese was well blended with mild chocolate tasted very buttery, soft, melted in our mouth. The taste was pretty straightforward in the sense that the flavor is reminiscent of cheese! This smooth, white appearance or powder-liked marble cheese pastry had the highest vote among us although it looked simple. Green tea and bunga kantan opera; renowned as the signature cake in Bread Lounge which was recommended by the staffs there. The typical combination was chocolate and coffee or vanilla and chocolate, but instead of coffee, green tea was used here.  I never know bunga kantan could be used as one of the ingredients of desserts as it was popularly used to cook tomyam. It's a  fluffy layer cake rich in the bitter-sweet essence of green tea with a subtly fragrant with the scent of green tea powder and flowery note. It is really an interesting flavor combination. Chocolate had a deep and strong sweetness but green tea helped making the cake became having mild bitterness. Green tea and bunga kantan opera - the ideal cake for green tea lovers and also for not-too-sweet cakes lovers.

I expected each cake served in a smaller plate, nevertheless this was much presentable.

Pizzas with cakes of our choices

Margarita Pizza (RM15) was the only pizza that wasn't often seen in other restaurants' menu. The description of the menu stated the ingredients included Mozzarella cheese, olive oil, tomato concasse, cherry tomato & basil pesto. We decided to give it a try although satay pizza sounded nice as well. The Margarita Pizza was served hot and it's not circular in shape nor square shape. A thick layer of dough baked to a crispy yet chewy perfection with the toppings were fresh cherry tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese and basil pesto. The ingredients were simple yet each bite of the pizza was really flavorful.

Macaroons with RM6 each

The macaroons here reminded me of Laduree's famous French macaroons which were not over sweet and chewy at each bite. The coconut flavored macaroon was very delectable and had firmed texture with hint of pandan. Lemon macaroons were very fresh and tangy, The sugar content of the macaroons here were less and nice to be paired with the hot coffee.

The oat loaf I bought home - photo taken from Google Image.
It was said to be without preservatives.

Bread Lounge; GTower is a highly recommended place to check out.
It's a well spent day lifting up the spirits and cheerful mood with a warm cup of coffee, good company, and some scrumptious cakes on a peaceful afternoon.

S&W Western Cuisine Spaghetti and Pork Noodles Soup @ Restoran Jalan Tanjung Dua

Honestly speaking, Italian cuisines and sushi are often appeared in my minds most of the time. The serene Sunday was kick-started with a short walk around my housing area, and I was hungrily searching for something to munch before the siblings woke up for breakfast.

Restoran Tanjung Dua; Bandar Menjalara had become our frequent selection for weekend brunch. It has a large variety of foods from western cuisines, fried koay teow, fried noodles and etcetera. The S&W Western Cuisine Spaghetti which offers a fair selection of western dishes like grilled meat (lamb, chicken, ham and etcetera) with the specialty fried spaghetti.

The cook
Crowds in front of the stall proved that the foods were delicious!
The stir fried version spaghetti was totally different compared to the spaghetti we used to have in Italian restaurants. The spaghetti was stir-fried with onions, black pepper and basil with their specialty tomato sauce. The bouncy perfection with generous portion of grilled chicken meat which was succulent and tantalizing . The drawback was the calories of the meal provided to you (me).

The set of fried spaghetti with black pepper chicken chop tantalized my taste buds.
If you are looking for impressive selection of contemporary western (Italian) cuisine as breakfast, lunch or brunch, you shall not miss the famous fried spaghetti here. You can opt for spaghetti topped with tasty enriched tomato sauce, matching with choice of side dishes.
Another choice was the fried koay teow which had enough "wok hei", yet it's a bit salty to my family and I.
The pork noodles vermicelli soup opposite the S&W Western Cuisine Spaghetti was very famous too.If spaghetti is not your choice of meal, you could opt for having a bowl of long-simmered, flavorful soup infusing with cloves garlic, garnished onion slices, vegetables, shredded pork meat, internal parts of pork, minced pork, ladled over the choice of rice noodles. I usually order the pork vermicelli with minced pork meats and the soup  has rich and satisfying flavor (not due to MSG) as I don't feel thirsty after finishing up the meal.

“Dai Chow” stall was available here and each plate of noodles/ fried rice was made-to-order, hence patience was needed. It might not be the most delectable noodles that I had tried, yet it's still a platter of noodles which passed the expectation.

Last but not least, I was impressed with the "cham" (coffee mixed with tea) here and I noticed that Chinese was the one who made the drinks. *Most coffee shops had been hiring foreigners to prepare drinks and the quality of the drinks were significantly dropped, yet I didn't need to worry of my drinks' quality when I dined here. Remarks (Add-on on March 2017), the sifu whom made the drinks had left the restaurant, the coffee drinks here weren't that nice and over sweet.

Decent Western foods @ Kensington Western Fusion Restaurant; Malacca

Kensington Western Fusion Restaurant is certainly one of the best Western Foods Restaurant I had gone.
A very nice and calm ambiance provide a fine dining touch. From the given menu,Kensington Western Fusion Restaurant offers a large range of western cuisines ranging from soups, steak (fish, lamb, chicken, beef, salmon), seafoods (especially Canadian-flown fresh oysters), pasta and etcetera.

Most have claimed that this is the best dish in Kensington.
I shall have jotted down the name of this food. Hmm..
Pumpkin soup with oyster

The creamy spaghetti which consists of many seafood, including lala, mussels, squid and prawn.
The sauce is creamy with a hint of spiciness which makes it saporous.

The platter set which costs around RM 23.90. The set consists of garlic breads, honey chicken wings, mussels topped with tasty, sour ingredients with tabasco and garlic calamari.  I like the Mussels Tomato Salsa very much!

Chicken Veronique with Grape Wine Sauce.
I love the baked potato wedges which is crispy and crunchy.

Short review:

This finest western restaurant offers variety of western fusion food. Although some say that only few selections are nice, yet I am quite impressed with the spaghetti and platter set which comes in large portion.
The price of the foods is affordable and cheaper compared to Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. The service is much to be improved as most of the customers' drinks arrived after finished dining. In short, I had an exquisite fine dining experience which perfectly matched my mood of the day.
